together with the pros and cons of the cameras. This could help prospective owners make up their decision.

I would also post similar threads for other budgets....

If you're just restricting it to consumer digicam, there isn't many above these price range right now and most of them are really good in their own ways.

1. CP5k
2. F707

If you want DSLR,

Not a lot of $$ , buy 2nd hand D30.
Moderate amount of $$, buy D60
A lot of money = 1......D

I've seen the picture of D30, it is excellent. Esp the NR. Even at max ISO, the picture is still usable. Very good. But D30 is discountinued.

Would you recommend the Dimage 7i which can be as "wide" as the CP5K and zooms as far as the F707?

Following Darren's suggestions, recommendations should come with ratings in the following categories:

1. Features
2. Value for Money
3. Ease of Use
4. Picture Quality
5. Accessory System

And give a score of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best.

You could also add your (subjective) opinion based on actual use of the camera.
