Hello all CS girls/guys and yet to be decided,

I have just decided to dual boot (windows XP / PC Linux).

I am interested to use Linux, but......

For photography, are there any Linux programs that give the same control as those for windows.

For example... I use CS3 a lot. Are there any programs written for Linux that offer the same control :dunno:

Also apart from photography, can you suggest other programs for say. "music"....CD copy.... etc.

I appreciate any suggestions :)

Cheers:)

For PS alternative, you can use GIMP.

Btw, if you're just starting out with Linux, Ubuntu distribution is recommended. It's one of the easiest and user friendly.

If you want to find out open source alternatives of applications, you can go to http://www.osalt.com

There's GIMP for Linux. If you are comfortable with Windows for photo editing don't bother jumping over - it's not worth the effort and CS3 is miles over GIMP. Personally, I would choose amaroK or Banshee for playing mp3s on Linux. You can use various desktop environments to suit your liking - fluxbox, blackbox, KDE, GNOME...

Linux is a very flexible OS but I mainly use it for programming...

Thank you poseidon and Klose for your replies :)
