Can anyone suggest a simple lighting set up for still life photography that i can use at home:D

I came across this site http://store.tabletopstudio-store.com/30eztasttwol.html
and i liked the equipment there especially the EZcube.

I dont need bulky umbrellas and heavy equipment. I am looking for something which is easy to set up and remove as and when i want cause i dont have enough space in my room to keep it at one side:(

If there are anygood online shops that ship to Singapore please give me the Url's:)

There's 2 models (large and small) selling at a stationary supermart on funan lvl2 next to one of the escalators... doesn't look as good and I think the blue areas might cause some issues. Not sure if it comes with lights. That said, there are possibly other alternatives that photo stores carry as well.

If you're in any remote chance into DIY, might I suggest:
1. simple taple top with white cloth.
2. 2 portable stands; those used for holding bamboo poles are fine; or similar.
3. more white cloth to drape across the 2 stands.
4. a flexi-arm table lamp or similar that holds commercially available bulbs; get those that are eg. tungsten with high CRI (colour rendering index); those from eg. ikea are not suitable as they give off a green cast as well.

The above might be more trouble than it's worth, but at least your objects aren't restricted by the size of the tent. I'm sure if you look around ur house enough, you'll think of something.

You can get light tents from perly at the link below:

PQ23 also has them at his store (though you might need to email him for more details as his webby doesn't seem to be complete yet):

eh, for me, I just use a $1.90 clothes hamper from Japan Home, cut out the sides, then drap a white cloth over, seems to work for me.

Hey thanks for those links, initially i was intrested to get such tents, cause i thought it would be easy to set up where and when i want. But now consediring the cost factors getting a plain cloth and getting the bulbs myself would be a lot cheaper. Just a question regarding the cloth, do i have to get any specific material which can diffuse the light evenly?? or any of the white cloths will do?? You mention Clothes hamper from Japan home... but unfortunately i am not aware of that place:dunno:

Ortega was correct, I was talking about the laundry bag thingy. :bsmilie:

Thought I'd share my setup, if you're interested to DIY... ;p

I bought a meter of a white cloth called "top pop poplin white" from Plaza Singapura's Spotlight, which cost $6.95. It's enough to cover the top and 2 sides, so if you want to cover more, do buy more.

For lights, I bought 2 of these screw-on-clips-on light sockets, as seen from the link below:

http://auctions.yahoo.com/sg/i:Screw on Clip-on Light Socket - MINT:97859960

Got them at $4.80 each from Japan Home.

Can some guru give advice on the bulbs to be used? I bought 2 of those clear sparkling philips bulbs for 80cents each, but read that it might be better to use those daylight bulbs?

I bought most of my stuff from the Jurong Point's Japan Home outlet, think there's one outlet at Bugis too.

Do drop me a pm if you need more info. :)
