Hi,

Been thinking of trying out macro but don't think that i will do it extensively. Will likely balance the rest of the photo shoot with portrait. I am thinking of two options:-

1. EF 100 mm F 2.8 Macro and double up as a portrait lens
Pro: dedicated marco lens
Con: read that it may be slow in term of focusing for infinity
cost: new S$ 730 - used at CS ard S$ 600

2. EF 85 mm F 1.8 and add extension tube for macro
Pro: dedicated portrait (in a sense)
tube can be used with my 50mm F1.8 if needed
con: not sure how's the IQ and AF when doing macro.
Cost: used @ CS S$ 420 + tube S$ 120 = S$ 640

3. Any other option.
any advice

Extension Tube or Reverse Ring.
Why invest in a lens that you're not going to use extensively?

Go for 100mm. I have one recently and I thought it was gonna an occasional event that I will use it. WRONG. The picture that this lens capture was way over excellent. Now I can't stop!! Help!! I'm addicted!

Oh, excellent portrait lens as well.
