Hello Just A query
Is there any difference in terms of picture quality between two lens with similar setting?

i.e
using lens 18-200 and 17-55 whats the performance on similar setting
let's say @ 55mm f9
this is with the assumption everything is similar.

Of course there is.
- the construction of the lens elements is different
- Optics quality is different
- lens coating plays a part
- number of aperture blades used might be different
not to mention the camera used

Oh that says it =)
I have tamron 17-50 2.8 right now,
and WAS planning to buy 18-200, and dispose my tamron already, apparently I wouldn't
I'm fully satisfied with my Tamron right now =p

You could just have looked up the reviews of both lenses and seen the comparisons?

You do know the 18-200 dosen't have a fix aperture and may find it slow in low light .

Thats a downside but you can convienience and versatility !

There'll still be issues like lens distortion, flaring, CA etc.

Don't ditch the Tamron! :nono: I intend to get one soon for low-light shoots. The Nikkor 17-55 is too ex for me

get both and find out yourself.

seriously though, i dont' think much of difference between superzooms and kit lens. assuming that you are talking about 18-55 kit lens, that is.

unless you are talking about 17-55 f/2.8, then i think at 100% crop the 17-55 will be likely to be sharper.

Definitely at Low Light Tamron will have an edge, but Im looking into a bright sunny day,
with similar f and focal length.

Will read those links thanks Man
