I currently have a lens that seems to have soft fungus growing in the lens. If I remember correctly, I could send the lens to shop for cleaning for about 70 bucks, but i heard that there is a protection coating on the lens. Now I am quite scard that the lens coating might have weared off and I am not sure if they are able to apply another coating on the lens.

no, they cannot reproduce the coating... it need very precise mechnic for the coating to be very even...

the best and most convenient way to prevent lens get fungus is to store it in a dry cabinet, and it will be the most economy way in long run.

re-coating a lens it is not cheap, and need to be done in the factory.

yes it can be recoated, however there are only a handful of these workshops around in singapore and they are very specialised. be prepared to pay premium dollars if you really want it to be recoated. of which i think it's better off buying a new lens.
