Come on, are you trying to be sarcastic? Those photos are taken from different websites. I'm just compiling everything, wanna share with everyone. I'm still working towards being a good photographer. Now starting off with the theory part.

Then credit the respective photographers...that is if you dun intend to ask for permission in the first place. Most photographers will be ok with it if you just simply ask...

But I did mention something like "Credits go to Wikipedia, and many other sites".

For me personally, that is lazy creditting. Give them what they really deserve ( I would really be pissed if my hours outdoors was just mentioned as "other sites") and you will gain respect. After which maybe some will join in your discussion.

I would actually advise that you ask them for permission in the future....if you're learning to be a great photographer, you have to be well aware of practices and ethics like these.

I wun disrupt the thread too much so I dun want to blow this up.

Sharing is a good thing but when you are using images without the copyright holder's permission, it is a no-no. That I believe is also the reason why Pablo gave the TS a cold shoulder. We should respect the works of others....that's as simple isn't it?

teamo, as a friendly advice, even if you find it awkward to do a formal way of asking the original photographer (which sometimes you do not have the contacts), it would be important to denote a credit immediately next to or on the picture, rather than some obscure area that people may not see.

i'm also a newbie who had went through what many laymen have gone through, linking pictures for non-commericialised purposes, and couldn't find any practical immorality to it, and innocently wondering how the uproar about it.

however, since you are now posting it to a photographic forum, do take note that people are now particular about it. Especially if you are posting pictures taken by probably established photographers who may even have a price tag to the publishing of his photos. If you do not credit immediately next to it and left the credit blank, it will be assumed immediately that the picture is taken by you or commissioned by you.

it actually doesn't warrant a discussion on it as it is quite simple - just credit the pictures directly on your blog. even if it is as indirect as posting the url that you retrieved the picture. gives no confusion.
