I'm going to get something from the pc show later.

budget 2k.

what do you suggest for a LCD monitor, I'm hoping for something good 19" or more. (haha 30"? but the apple hd lcd is 5k..sighz)

I am too getting an LCD and I have decided on the Viewsonic VP171b...it's a 16.7m color panel :D

But I must find out more on the warranty policy etc first

It's a 8ms panel... There's not way it can be a 24bit (16.7m) panel at the moment..

I going to get his philips LCD monitor
170B6CG at $569

Perfect panel
16.2 million colors
8ms
Dual input - DVI / VGA
USB 2
Build in Speakers
Contrast ratio 500:1 (typical)
Brightness 250 cd/m (typical)
MTBF 50,000 hours

3yrs 1 dead pixel / bright dot panel warranty

Is this good enough FOR photography related software?

no.

because its only 16.2 million colours

Got my VP171b at Cybermind booth....they offer with free Canon bubble jet printer and a DVI cable...but I don't want the printer so they knock off $50 so I paid $529....Now surfing and typing in Pivot mode....Shiok!!!

24bit panels are 16.7 million colors
