LCD Monitor Native Resolution + Refresh Rate

Dear all.

On a 17inch Viewsonic (VP series) LCD monitor, the following recommendations are given for best picture quality: 1280 x 1024 @ 60Hz
May I know, is this the so called Native Resolution?

What happens if I switch it to: 1024 x 768 @ 75Hz instead?
(this setting was used for my 17 inch CRT previously)

For photographic editing, which setting is the most appropriate choice on a LCD monitor?
Will 60Hz cause flickering on the screen?

Native resolution simply refers to the acutal no. of pixels on the screen. So setting at native res. would mean that 1 pixel on the screen actually represents 1 pixels which the graphics card is trying to display.

Setting to a lower resolution is generally not recommended... image quality will suffer and your straight lines may not be entirely straight since a group of pixels on screen will now represent 1 pixel, ie no 1-to-1 ratio.

For a standard 17 inch (not wide displays) native res is usually 1280x1024. No need for high refresh rates. 60hz is normal. It won't flicker.

As to which display is suitable for DI, do a search. It was discussed some time back.
