The landscapes of Tasmania are pretty diverse and varied :

From snowcapped mountains and icy hillsides...

Wah! That's where I'm headed come December. Could not get tickets to NZ.

That should be Cradle Mountain, right?

I like the pic of the log. 17-40?

Cool, though somehow, I prefer NZ... Nevertheless, its summer in Dec in Tassie and peak season and thats when the lavender full blooms and harvest. Thats one of the attractions. However, they had a bad winter and a late spring (thats why there's still snow & slush when I went), so dunno how much that will affect the summer. For me, the Tulip festival/farm was much less spectacular bcoz of the late spring. According to a farmer there, its the worst spring in the last 60 years :( But still, very nice place to visit lah!

Yup, 1st pic is Cradle mountain (and only the 1st pic..)
Yup, the log is taken with a 17-40 :)

Matrix,

Really like the sunset one as well as the one on cradle mountains..

Good color contrast

wonderful landscapes as usual from you :) 'digital ND grad' is so much better than the easily scratched physical ones eh?

Nuts, Very nice landscape shots, I like the 5th & 6th pictures. Since my booking to Greece or Italy is fully booked for December... I am now thinking of Tasmania..I have not been to Tasmania...are all these places in the tourist trail? I intend to rent a car and drive around the scenic places...any recommendations?

I intend to shoot with my large format 4 x 5 and Xpan.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations if any.
James.

Lovely shots.... always wanted to shoot landscape like these

what split ND filter are u using?
have the though of getting a 2 and 3 stop grad. ND but duno which one to get

I love them all! Wonderful pictures you have here nuts...

Hey, thank you all for the kind words! The scenery is so beautiful I'm sure you can all come away with equally wonderful pics!

Java_Guru, MaGixShOe,
I bought a Cokin ND8 filter just before I left for Tasmania, and prob took it out a grand total of 2 times. Just wanted to "experience" it, thats all. In fact, only the 2nd last pic I _may_ have used (can't rem), the rest never used at all. Think erwinx probably has more experience & expertise on it (and judging from his comments, probably will not using it anymore? ;) )

Cool, they say real landscape photographers use large format!... :D
Well, going self-drive is definitely a good start! :)
Dec is peak season, so u gotta get your tix and acommodation fast. I'm not too sure what you mean by "tourist trail" but the visitor info in Tasmania has all the info on the above places. However, if you're talking abt places that local tourist packages goto, then its probably only Cradle mountain....
Goto http://www.discovertasmania.com/ . It is an excellent starting point for information. Just pm me your email if you have further qns and we'll go from there..
