er...towards 50% and above is sorta crazy lar...so humid..might as well not use dry box...lol

i keep it at "ON" all the time...didnt use the "HIGH", "MID" or "LOW" setting.. :dunno:

I was told the optimal should be between 40-50%

yup, optimal is about 55% last i heard.
open air in singapore is about 90%.

devilicboy, may I suggest that you borrow a digital (portable) hydrometer and check if your humidifer's hydrometer's faulty.

True... I myself a bit kiasu, I have 2 hydrometer in my dry cabinet. So I know which one is good or faulty. Base on the instruction manual, 40~50% is the best
