It was a really short trip (by my reckoning ;P) and too early for the sakura bloom. Famous for its multitudes of temples & shrines, I didn't really visit them. In the end, I spent most of the time walking some of the old streets and alleys.

Kyoto station, most likely your entry into Kyoto, is typical of the Japanese rail stations - Huge, modern and sometimes confusing. Its architecture, the shops, its view from the top, it is a tourist attraction in itself.

However, it is the streets with its old architecture that I like wandering around in....

Not to mention its gardens & groves too!

Kyoto is a very enjoyable, walkable place indeed...

Well, wouldn't be a Yokoso! Japan Kyoto without a visit to the Gion district eh?

And as mention in any guidebook, if you're lucky, you may catch a glimpse of some maiko/geisha ;)

It was definitely too short a trip for me... I know I will be back there! :)

Thanks schon! Me too, I like this pic too, esp the messy wires really add to the feel of the place! :)
