backlog photo, cool house at botanic gardens, where the orchids are.

my favourite shot of the day :)

this particular girl that was quite striking because of her red bag and the frangipani blossom she put in her hair.

interesting results which I liked very much when I did something drastic... set the blacks to 50 on Adobe Camera Raw (usually I set between 8-12)

(on a separate note, thanks pleophoto for the birthday wish! did you get the tamron 17-50 in the end?)

wide open shot with my birthday present :D

now... I longer just have my tamron 17-50 to shoot with... i have a 50 1.4 AI'D

it says nippon kogaku japan and the lens elements has a nice brown tint to it.

good to be practicing manual focus once more

*(photo went through my standard raw processing... sharpening +100, blacks 8, contrast +50)

more from the new lens!

this is a Christmas tree behind a fence.

in any case, my friend bought my present from www.lens.sg

i'm recommending it because... nowhere else do I know you can find so many manual focus lenses... their shop front is now at peninsular, the shop with a blank white signboard in the corner, excellent service and patience to let you try the lenses out.

good service needs to be commended!

bad news.

apart from not knowing how to correct distortion, my friend dropped my camera bag.

my tamron 17-50 ended up with an unacceptably stiff zoom ring... recently brought it to Steven @ Camera Hospital... the zoom ring is damaged... and the part which records distance information and sends it to a hotshoe flash is broken... his assessment is that it is not worth repairing... just let it die a slow death... then upgrade...

you have served me well even though i often despised your image output.

now.... to shoot until it dies...

just a casual bokeh test at 1.4 (pardon the poor lighting)

i would describe it as pleasant enough for me :)

at least, it's hard to tell where the shot was taken :bsmilie:

**NOTICE**

my d300 and tamron 17-50 are on holiday to a village in Vietnam without me for 2 weeks.

hopefully they survive the OCIP trip with my best friend :bsmilie:

there might not be updates unless I dig up my trusty old 5mp Lumix compact to shoot.

happy holidays!

well.. my trusty 5 megapixel Lumix to the rescue of this thread.

with some heavy handed tweaking.

and a major fingerprint stain on the lens that i can't clean off without a cleaning kit.

wonder how my d300 is doing in vietnam without me.
