I cant get much info when i searched the CS. Curious to know how different is this type of slides compared to other kodak slides eg the elite chrome & ektachrome? Is this slide the best of the Kodak lot? Heard that it needs a differnt development chemical formula called K-14. Is it? Anywhere I can get hold of this film in SG?

I read from a website "The K processes are for Kodak Kodachrome only and are proprietary, meaning if you buy kodachrome and shoot it, the film has to go to Kodak for processing." I think K-14 chemicals cannot be bought. I went to the link you showed, they didnt teach developing times.
Kodachrome and users of kodachrome, how much you liked about kodachrome compared to other E6 slides? Shed some light for young photographers like me. Very keen to learn these old films. They just seem to me like some kind of historial mounument. Just like the Technical Pan... it was already discountinued when i just started out into photography... :cry:

What does process independently means? Not anywhere did it state that Kodachrome can be processed with anything other than K-14 chemistry and K-14 could only be processed by the labs indicated in the packaging when you buy the film. As far as I know, there is not a single lab in Singapore that does K-14. My Kodachrome films are all sent to either Australia or Japan.

As for advantages of Kodachrome (which are now pretty academic I guess) they were excellent durability under dark storage, more "natural" colour than the other chromes of the day (this was years ago, current slides are, depending on your taste, every bit as good) & wonderful grain structure. While i haven't any side by side tests, the grain of KR might still be better...
Perhaps the guys following this thread ought to know and consider the colour balance of Kodachrome. In the days when it was current, the consumers and industry were emphasizing accurate colour reproduction. Currently, the popular slide films have "enhanced" colour response (more vivid or saturated colour). Side by side, the older film might look a little "dull" by today's standards.

Best 35mm colour slide film ever especially Kodachrome 25 and 64 (at least to me) but have not seen it around for ages.

I have not taken Kodakchrome for more than 10 years. The process involves applying the primary colours one layer at a time during processing. So the saturation was quite unbeatable. I don't think any home lab or even minilab can do this.
There used to 2 labs in the region that developed Kodakchrome: Japan and Australia. The price of the film used to include the processing. You only had to mail the roll (which came in a little yellow envelop) and they will process and mail it back, all nicely mounted.

I went to asked Cathy, Ruby, Ron's and Adelphi colour centre. They all dont carry. Seems that this film is no longer available in SG. That is sad... :cry:
Kodachome emulsion is ard for 70 yrs, it must have felt great to see colour that time when everybody is still mainly B&W.

It's called K-14 for obvious reasons. The process is so complicated, they needed about 14 different individual steps.

Correct me if I am not wrong, K-14 is actually a black and white slide film. Colours are introduce later when processing.
You still can order ask Cathay to order Kodachrome from KODAK SG but minimum quantity of 200 rolls.
