Klaxons at Changi Beach

Was out with the wife and dog at the Changi Coastal Walk (low tide, it's lotsa fun) beach just off the NSRCC when we heard the sound of klaxons
Could have sworn we heard announcements later, one male followed by another female voice but it was impossible to make out what they were saying
We looked out to the other beach goers but no one seemed perturbed and went about their merry business - two other families with young kids scouring the sand
Anyone know what they were sounding out for?
My guess was inclement weather but it was only cloudy, no rain yet

Should be the the Lighting Detection and Early Warning System at NSRCC.
