Hi All, I be going to Kota kinabalu and also wish to visit semporna as well. I check tru google map and was estimated timing will be 9 hr drive and not sure of taking plane. I be going 5d 4n, Is it enough days to cover mount kinabalu, kota kinabalu and semporna + island visit as well?

i think 5d4n would not be sufficient. U have to stay 1 night b4 the climb at the foot of the mountain and 1 night at the mountain itself. So the climb alone is already 3d2n. You also have to take into account your resting time. It will be tiring after the climb. It took me 5d4n for the climb and island visit. so u might consider extending ur travel period.

Semporna is located at the East side of Sabah, you can travel with plane from KK to Tawau, and take a boat to Semporna island. The flight is 1 hour +. Or, you can drive and shoot on your way there, Google is correct, need around 9-10 hours drive. But 5D4N to climb Mt. KK and Semporna is abit rush.
I climbed Mt. KK in 2D1N. Wake up very early and go to Mt. KK, climb and rest near the top for one night. Then start climbing to the top early morning at 1am to see sunrise, and return to the base in the afternoon. If you really strong, you can do it in one day, go straight up the top without resting and come down, but will miss the sunrise.

Will extend my leave first thing in the morning at work. Hope approve btw correct me if im wrong It seems like in the east of sabah is like more to sea activity.
Two towns in the east of Sabah - Sandakan (Cheap fresh seafood and the orang utan center + some big nose monkey - trobosis something like that) and Tawau (the nearest town to Semporna, not sure what else is in Tawau...).
West of Sabah is Kota Kinabalu and some island about 30 mins boat ride. Mt. KK is 1 and half hour drive from KK. Sea activity the island also got.

Hey, if u want something more adventurous, climb the via Ferrata at Kinabalu plateau. Or do white water rafting at padas river, 3 hrs fr kk. I do agree that flying to semporna is better than driving there.
agrrrrrr...... boss do not approve my extend leave... now im thinking of staying at kk only or just proceed to semporna.. I saw a resort dragon inn is so.... beautiful
