Hi, ClubSnappers... I am sharing with you some of the photos taken while I was on a 2N stay in Kanchanaburi. The place is full of history and is worth a visit, even though the journey from Bangkok is quite tedious. Stayed at the Oriental Kwai Resort, one of the best in the area. All photos taken with Panasonic LX5.

#1 Hellfire Museum.

This is a worthwhile museum to visit for history buffs as it depicts the atrocities the WWII prisoners of war and Asian conscripted labourers suffered. Afterwards, you can take a 2.5km trek through Hellfire Pass and see some of the sights.

#2 Hellfire Pass

PoWs were made to cut a pass through the granite rocks and laid railway tracks round the clock, with very rudimentary tools like hoes and sledgehammers. A small section of the tracks can be seen as you walk along the pass.

#7 Train coming into Nam Tok Station. The train runs daily along a stretch of the Thai-Burma Death Railway built by the PoWs.

#8 The inside of a coach. Not much different from a Kereta Api Tanah Melayu train in the old days. There are hawkers on board peddling drinks and food to passengers.

Awesome mann! I didnt get to go here when i was in thailand recently.
How much did you pay for this? And hope to see more photos :)

The stay in oriental kwai resort was 2900 THB per night inclusive of breakfast. To get there you need to take a bus from Bangkok 2.5-3.0 hr's ride to kanchanaburi bus terminal. From there another taxi ride of 20 mins paid for by the resort.

Will post a few more pictures of the resort.

#15 Cottage No. 1 at the Oriental Kwai Resort. It costs THB2,900 a night inclusive of breakfast and this is the best cottage amongst the 12 there as it is next to the river Kwai. From the verandah you can see the swift-flowing river. A great place to relax and unwind especially for honeymoon couples, which is why most the guests were Caucasians. My wife and I were the only Asian guests.

#17 Fancy sitting by the edge of the river and do nothing but relax? Here's the spot to go especially at twilight.
