hi,

just got my canon eros 400d to try learning tricks for digital photography...

anyone got any idea how to maintain the 400d? like how to prevent dust from smearing the lens, what kind of stuffs needed other than the kit lens?

i attached my lens to my camera and leave it in my bag, so will it deteriorate the lens? must i put them into the dry box?

Welcome to Clubsnap :)

To maintain your camera, you need the following recommended items:
- anti-static cloths
- blower
- dry cabinet
- UV filter for your lens

How to prevent dust from smearing the lens?
- change lens in lesser dust environment like air-con room. Try not to change it outdoor. Shooting at smaller aperture will make the dust appears on the photo visible. Use blower to blow the dust away.

Where do to store your camera?
- recommended to store it in dry cabinet when not in use. As you know Singapore humidity is high and easy to get lens fungus if not store properly.

hey cheekiang..

this is what i did with my 70-200 and kit lens: got uv filters for them. took a blower and got rid of any dust on either surfaces and screwed it in. that settles the dust on lens problem. regarding dust on sensor, its gonna happen one day or another so just get a blower and it should solve the problem.. of course, take some precaution in changing the lens if you're not rushing for time.

about the deterioation of the lens in a bag since its attached to the body [am i right?] i dont think that will happen.. not that i heard of la. but i do detach them due to space constraints.

hope this helps and have fun with the 400d! =D

Hi, me plan to buy 400D... wat other accessories do u all get?

Is it more worth it to get the body only & buy the lens separately?

Wat is the recommended lens to get for a beginner?
I plan to get the kit set (wif 18~55mmlens included) then buy extra the 55~200mm lens... is this a good idea?

Plan to get from MS photo (as recommend in the forum), they quote me $1420 (kit set).. but i didnt ask the lens.... worry will get rip off for other accessories i buy frm them.. is this over concern? (Cos last time experience in Sim lim, the retailer lower they main item cost, but marked up $ for other accessories...bad experience for me..)
