Haha yep its true, I have not much experience with photography equipment, they are just what the salesman recommend :)

Wow.. 12.5mm lens will cost much more than getting a converter? How much more?

Btw I got it from De-Lux from peninsula plaza. Actually the deal from Bagaincity is not bad too! Quite similiar to the deal I got.

You should have bought from a more reputable shop, always do research 1st.

When u wrote Vitacon, I was scratching my head WTH is that.

You can get airtight container like Tupperware to store them. Place some drying agent in it to perfect it. This should be a good economic version of dry cabinet but of cos ideally you should invest in a dry cabinet if you can. Enjoy your new toy !

A dry cabinet would be a better long term investment IMHO. You are protecting equipment that would potentially cost thousands of dollars.

Generally, when we refer to "reputable shops", they are usually from this list.

Of course, you are welcome to try out other shops and share your good/bad experiences with them.

You referring to the price or the camera?

For price like what other CS had said.. ask around and check the existing pricing and offer.
but since you already got it... dont look back now.....
Just got out shot and enjoy. To make your $$$ spend worth it also...

For camera either brands is OK...you'll not get it wrong..

Cleaning and maintenance..
LENS Pens, Dry box or cabinet, blower and cleaning cloths.

BTW....Welcome to the DSLR WORLD...!!!
There is alot to learn here....

Buy already dun think so much. Just go outside and shoot shoot shoot.

no. he means the squeeze thingy to get blow away dust specks on your front element or filter.

Hey!!

I just took 2 photographs, one with wide converter and one without.

http://www.apc.sg/1.JPG (converter)
http://www.apc.sg/2.JPG (no converter)

Anyone experienced out there can tell me if there is any loss in quality? I was thinking of having the converter on all the time instead since I can get wider angle with it.

Thank you!!

you need to post up the originals. very hard to tell with resized jpgs.

hey they are the original. I think your browser just did an auto-resize! :)

oops.

frankly based on the pictures, there is some loss in IQ as well as quantity of light.

in the end it's up to you: do you need the extra (slightly) wider field of view? if you're into landscape shots, you might want to save up for a 10-22 lens - now THAT's Ultra Wide Angle (UWA)

sorry, cant tell this way. coz the shooting technique over-rides everything abt quality.
Place ur camera on a proper tripod and take these pictures again.

but i assure u, there's loss of quality with such items. however, the good news is if u just use it for leisure purpose and posting on web, dun need to care so much. just enjoy shooting pictures

Hi there!!

I just got the following for S$1480.

EOS 450D Kit (EF-S 18-55 IS) with 4GB SD Card & Canon Bag
Vitacon DSW PRO Wide Converter 0.7x
Vitacon 58mm UV Filter
3rd Party Compatible 2500mAh Li-ion Battery
3" LCD Screen Protector.

Any comments? Anything i bought extra or should buy?

Thank you!! :)

BTW any tips on how to take care of the camera and lenses without dry cabinet? Should lenses always be removed from the body when not in use?

When using wide-converter, should i remove the lense filter to prevent the slight circular border?

Thank you!!

Bro, You should have bought the kit 2nd hand. Some guys here getting rid of it, next time check out the canon sell section, saves you loads of $$$. Get a flash next.

hi to all. does it mean that when you use the 0.7x to 18 = 12.6mm angle right?
Then how about the F value?
