Hi everyone,

I'm considering the two models IXUS V3 and Olympus mju 300. I realised that they have rather similar configurations and price difference isnt tt great either...

Can anyone give me some recoomendations?

Many many thanks in advance.

v3:
- mic
- 2x zoom
- cool design with silvered(?) faceplate
- slightly shorter (3-5 mm)
- CF cheaper and larger sizes avail
- older model, now is ixus 400
- slightly better image quality, less image noise
- ISO 50
- 749 MSRP

mju:
- no mic
- no ISO
- 3x zoom
- weathersealed (aka splash/dust proof, -10 deg C)
- c/w IR remote shutter
- c/w camera pouch
- looks like film camera
- made in china
- slightly less overall flare comparing same indoor scene w flash
- USB drive, no need drivers
- AV out uses std 3.5mm jack
- 699 MSRP

I would recommend the V3 as its picture quality is better than the mju based on some shots taken by other users.

And also, being able to select ISO is a very impt feature IMO. You may want to increase the ISO manually to allow for better pic while sacrifcing some noise (higher noise resulted). The manual controls of the V3, although quite limited, is much better than the mju.

i'd recommend the v3... it takes really good pics and movies.. ;) manual controls aren't alot on the little fella, but it's enough... shutter speed, ISO, exposure etc etc....

it's a small and efficient package... work of art.. :)

What's meant by optical zoom? Is there any significance difference between 2x and 3x zoom?

Thanks!!
