Singapore made it to the number one list again, for all the wrong reasons...again.
We are (not surprisingly) the costliest place to watch the World Cup 2014.
Subscription is at $112 for all 64 matches.
But ironically our neighbouring countries are letting their people watch it for free.
In fact several countries have made provisions to make watching of the World Cup matches AFFORDABLE to their people.
I'm definitely not entrapping myself to the high prices our local telcos has created.

We don't belong to this world/earth/planet?

But world cup is once in 4 years.

$112 ÷ 64 = $1.75 per match.

Cannot blame the commercial companies. This is in a place where people pay (or have paid in the recent past) > $100,000 for a piece of paper that says, now you have permission to go and buy a car - however keep in mind that this permission only lasts for 10 years. After 10 years you have to pay again.

There are many other ways to watch it.

It's now free if ur a current mio sports tv subscriber intending to recontract. Quite tempted except that I intend to stop watching BPL altogether.

I refuse to condone what the telcos are doing. Vote with my money. Dont watch live, dont subscribe!

Why should we pay for Singtel obsession to be the sole content rights owner for Singapore ? As I understand it you can stream from Indonesia, HK ect. so why be the sucker that Singtel thinks we are ? Once in 4 years be dammed if you do not see will you curl up and die …. no right ? It has gotten so bad that even IFA knows we are suckers - last year Singapore payment came to be 10% of its world wide revenue for viewing rights. Sit this year out, find alternative ways to view if you must - hey you could go to pubs to view, let their revenue fall short of recovering what they pay for a change. Next year see if they are so gung ho about high price bids. It is time to tell all the Tumasek companies not to treat us as fools any long wait so more you might as well just just give them your atm card and pin number.

You can buy $3 for 5 Japanese AV CDs in JB.

Same same. You'll get to watch a lot of sweating and balls.

Hahaha to old to watch - better to do. Like Yoda saidtThere is no try, there is only do"" French AV better Japanese too much guassian blur patches in wrong places and time; good sound effects……. may favorite of white attire people - talk (sounds effect ) more important the results.

Tot some minister came out and say we must pay high price else agent won't sell content to us?

What a load of crap.....

You have choice. Pay and continue to support the high prices or boycott .

There are more interesting things to watch beside a group of people chasing after a ball :bsmilie:

that is no such thing as free , you 'll get tied down with 2 years contract .. just another typical singtel strategy to entrap their customers. this is scheming .

4 years ago Singtel and Starhub were locked in a war to outbid each other.

The real drivers of demand for World Cup football coverage are:

IIRC Singapore is the world's biggest illegal football gambling capital according to one past newspaper report.

In addition there is legal football gambling at the Singapore Pools outlets.

Not mentioned the biggest football matchmaking kingpin was operating from here :)

It would be more interesting if they play with two papayas instead of a leather ball. :bsmilie:

Playing with 2 papayas or 2 coconuts are banned :bsmilie:

I would gladly extend contract by 48months to watch this world cup.
