Has anyone wondered why so many people tend to refer to the popular word processing application as "Words" or MS-Words, or Microsoft Words when the correct description is "Microsoft Word" without the plural?

Could it be because they are typing lots of words and hence, call it "Words"

+1...

Smile an everlasting smile, a smile can bring you
Near to me.
Dont ever let me find you down, cause that would
Bring a tear to me.
This world has lost its glory, lets start a brand
New story now, my love.
Right now, therell be no other time and I can show
You how, my love.

Talk in everlasting words, and dedicate them all to
Me.
And I will give you all my life, Im here if you
Should call to me.
You think that I dont even mean a single word i
Say.
Its only words, and words are all I have, to take
Your heart away

Many Lisences of MS Word. So become MS Words lor. mainly used by IT Guys in my Company. We bought 7 MS Words. 8 Ms Offices and 6 Powerpoints...

something like tis...

Saying I love you
Is not the words I want to hear from you
Its not that I want you
Not to say, but if you only knew
How easy it would be to show me how you feel
More than words is all you have to do to make it real
Then you wouldnt have to say that you love me
Cos Id already know

Same thing lah, when people say len, I usually assume they mean lens.

The problem is when they say lens...

Oh, since I'm at it, +1!

I think they got it from the shampoo advertisement on TV some time ago, "And its works"...

Hmm, but more often than not, people are saying:

"Can you send this to me in Words format?"
"How do you do this table in Words?"

Just to clarify, the statements above were seen in emails, and not verbally, and hence, I doubt there's confusion with the other application MS-Works.

Also, I do not see why this thread is a "+1" thread as it is neither inciteful, controverisal or flame-baiting. Discussions should continue without further attempts at interruptions.

Hmm, you're saying that you speak like that?

I do believe your attempt at humour was using the letter "s" to change the verb. However, in the situation I have highlighted, it is to change the noun. Hence, your attempt fails :) :bsmilie:

Many peoples speaks like this you no understands? :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Poor joke. But the point I was driving at is how many non-native speakers are adding an "s" to the back of words (pun intended). And this phenomena is not just unique to Singapore.

:bsmilie:

Hmm I see, okay then :)

I just call it M$Word ...

back to the topic at hand, I feel that this has to do with the lack of emphasis on properly spelling and pronunciation in our social circles.
