Is my 20D battery dead?

trying to charge the battery, but the indicator showed full charge in a few seconds (I am pretty sure the battery is not fully charged).
is this the symptom of replacement is needed?

How old is the battery? Check the Mass Sales section, plenty of shops selling batteries for all types of Canon cameras. These types have no chip inside, just use whatever 3rd party battery is there.

I encountered the same problem. Bought a 3pty batt (less than 20 bucks) and still same problem. After repeated playing around, I found out the the fault was with the charger. Bought an 3pty charger and there was no prob anymore.

try cleaning the contact on the charger. Use a eraser or like.
