is it a fair comparison between G9 and TZ5?

Between G9 and TZ5 on same scene, G9 seems much sharper than Leica powered TZ5..

But on second thought, G9 is 12MP while TZ5 is 9MP, this could make a difference. But will it be so significant?

a more closer direct competitor of G9 would be the LX3. tz5 are for those looking for high power zoom at small size (miniature of the common 12-20x zoom prosumer).
the only huge different between the 2 would be the focal length 35-210 f2.8-4.8 vs 24-60 f2.0-2.8

Totally different sensors too. Panasonic is not exactly known for their sensors.
