ISIS has since seized the Baiji Oil Refinery 130 miles north of Baghdad in northern Iraq, on the main road to Mosul. The Baiji Oil Refinery is the largest of its kind in the nation and production has since been stopped [01].

CiC / POTUS Barack Obama just announced the deployment of 300 strong Special Operations Joint Task Force (SOJTF) of "non-combatant military advisor" under the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) back to Iraq in support of the Federal Government of Iraq [01] [02].

* The USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77) Carrier Strike Group (CSG) is now forward deployed back to the Persian Gulf and undergoing preparations for any imminent combat operations in safe guarding United States (US) interests.

* The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran has also sent a 2,000 strong contingent including the "Quds" Special Operations Forces (SOF) of the Revolutionary Guards and its Commanding Officer (CO), Major-General Qasem Soleimani to coordinate the defence of Baghdad signalling a possible twisted alignment of unlikely alliance.

The US is in a fix. They know that they can never fix the fundamental Sunni vs Shi'ite quarrel (and don't forget the Kurds) that has been tearing that entire region apart for years. Plus cannot commit ground troops due to Obama's pledge to the US. But not doing anything now would be watching Iraq descend into chaos and becoming another Afghanistan/Pakistan. Only here, major oil supplies are threatened - especially when shale gas is not completely ready yet.

i think Iraq will become another Syria.

Iraq & Afghanistan as is today (destabilized) are the result of US intervention.

There is NO Iraq now.

Let's all let that sink in because the US isn't willing to admit it yet.

Western military–industrial complex has a new wild card up their sleeve in the guise of Private Military Corporations (PMCs (Academi, G4S etc. etc.)) ready to be flown to anywhere in the world at a moment's notice from their highest bidder.

Since PMCs are not covered as legit combatants under the Geneva Conventions, they'll have more "liberty" in interpreting their Rules of Engagement (RoE) or the complete lack thereof.

I beg to differ, with or without western intervention those regions are still going be a hellhole one way or another. It just so happens the majority of energy resources the rest of the world depends on happens to be concentrated from a limited pool of supplies within these hellholes.

What seems to be 120mm Armour-Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding-Sabot (APFSDS) and High-Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) munitions cooking off on an Iraqi Army M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank (MBT). A number of Iraqi Army M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) are reported to have been disabled after being struck upon by a Russian Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM (possibly the 9K11 Malyutka or the more advanced 9M133 Kornet)) fired by ISIS forces since the Northern Iraq Offensive began.

The US sold monkey M1A1s just like how the USSR sold monkey T-72s to the Iraqis (minus some of the finer bits of protection, and they fired steel sabots).

ISIL / ISIS is also moving captured American manufactured equipments including Combat-Net Radios (CNRs) such as the Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS) and vehicles back to Syria to be use in the fight against Assad's forces.

A new map released by the group shows parts of western India as part of a bigger 'caliphate' that the group calls the "Islamic state of Khorasan."

...

India, which has the second largest Shia population, is affected in three critical ways by what’s unfolding: it has 10,000 workers in Iraq alone and hundreds of thousands more in other Arab countries, it imports 25 million tonnes of oil from Iraq every year and finally the presence of Pakistani jihadists in the ranks of Syrian and Iraqi militants brings the conflict and Wahabi Islamist ideology closer to India.

Aren't all these terrible? The family members quarrel and their neighbours handed them the knifes and guns and told them to fight. Then they each accuse the others of being nasty and killing the other member.

If they were just fist fights, there won't be so much killings of innocence. After all these wars, who are the real losers? The Iraqis!! Others just walk away and count the money they got.:bheart:

You have to understand many Arabs, Kurds and Persians in the Middle-East personally identify themselves not by nationality as predetermined by modern day geographical boundaries initially set out in the 1916 Anglo-French Sykes–Picot Territorial Division Agreement for the Triple Entente Alliance but more of one based on ethical and sectarian ideologies and what they see as the cradles of their respective holy grounds that stretches ages back to biblical times

But you are also right, the lucrative arms and weapons trading industry is worth US$1.756 trillion dollars in 2012 at 2.5% of the entire world's GDP and continues to grow. Little surprise whoever is the one that's laughing all the way to bank loaded with the blood money.
