Hey everyone, i've got a Hoya R72 infrared filter. All my pictures came out very VERY reddish and grainy, its unlike those nice IR photos i've seen on clubsnap....

Can anyone tell me what post processing must i do to get those nice effects?

What camera are you using? DSLR? If you are using SLR what film are you using?

1. Always convert IR pics to B&W. They tend to be reddish in colour mode.

2. You do need some sort of post processing to bring the best out of it. If you are lazy, try Auto Levels.

3. Not all cameras do IR well. The older consumer digicams tend to do better. Heard D60 doesn't do it well, but 10D is okay. The old Coolpix 950 does it very well.

No need converting to black&white, not need post-processing to alter color.

I tried custom WB with IR filter on. Then subsequent IR shots will naturally be B&W liao.

But then to do that, you'll need very bright sunlight to shine directly on your white card.
