iPod mini or Zen Micro easier to use?

Ok.. I know there was a huge fire in the previous post. But I have only one question:

Is Creative's Zen micro easy to use in terms of scrolling through songs and using its 'touch pad'?

Most seem to point that iPod besides its better, sleeker design (ok we won't go anymore into this) has a scroll wheel that is much more of a breeze to use compared to Zen. Could anyone be a little more specific as what you mean by 'easier' in comparison to Zen?

I've used my friend's iPod mini and I must confess, darn, it's really intuitive and easy to scroll with the wheel! I need no instructions manual to understand it. But I haven't used a Zen micro.

I don't care about the price diff, FM radio or extra 1GB that Zen has. All I want to know is ease of use. Which is preferable here: iPod or Zen?

Okay, its iPod. If you just wanna ask about ease of use, its the iPod, period.

Just got the micro myself, took me half a day to master the touchpad, after that, its all smooth sailing. Sound quality however, its unbeatable. The first few track I listened to convinced me that the micro is superior. The violin from John Williams's Schindler List is rendered in perfect clarity, incredible separation of instruments. Second track I listened to is Tokyo String Quartet, Barbar's Adagio, again the perfect clarity and separation, devastating. Its was so good that I could hear the breathing of the performer. The mids and lows was equally good on non-classical tracks the likes of everything from trance DJ tiesto's Sparkle to death metal of Slipknot's Duality. Sonically the micro can handle any genre of music I thrown at it from Madonna's Frozen to Sarah McLachlan's Rainbow Connection.

Granted the earphone given was the best in any mp3 players out in the market, still this is not enough for the excellent signal quality of the player - it has a signal-to-noise ratio rating of 98dB, which is top of the line for a mobile audio device.

If ease of use is what you looking for, get the iPod.....

Those music that you mentioned you had played on the micro, if they were played on the iPod, the sound reproduction will not be as solid?

Let me not start another war, you could check the review of micro and mini at Cnet and various other website easily.

Go with the iPod, since you wanted only to know the which is easier to use.

Whilst it took Hommie 1/2 a day to master the up-&-down of the Zen Micro, it took me 10secs to master the iPod.

Get an iPod. It's looks, feels better than the Zen. Plus it so much cooler.

Does it really have the touted function of a 'hold down and scroll continuously' function?

Tried the earlier Zen Touch and the touchpad, needless to say, failed to live up to the abovementioned function.

I have no need to anyway, its fast enough for the average joe, perhaps too fast as you can tweat its sensitivity to hi or lo.

Look, I am not attacking or denying iPod's ease of use. As I said, get iPod if ease of use is the most important feature to look for in David's post. Neither do I wanna get into another war. That's good enough. For me, sound quality is the paramount factor.

1 thing i don't like about ipod is must use the software to add songs into ipod.... i prefer drag and drop.... lol....but on the other hand.... itune is a very powerfull software.... heee.... my votes still goes out to ipod! its looks better.... creative's design still not stylo enuff....

Ok, after I saw this thread, I just knew I had to add my two cents worth. So here my story goes.

I got two gifts, a Creative Zen Micro and an Apple mini iPod. (and here I was waiting for my Canon 1Ds MkII, so unfair right? ... ok ok, just rubbing it in..)

First the Zen Micro..

1) After installing from the CD, a few programs to install.
2) I jacked in the Zen Micro. After a few heart stopping moments, if decided to hang. Yup, the player hanged. Had to take the battery out and put it back in to restart.
3) After that is done, tried again. This time it works. Managed to transfer music files.
4) Time to play the music. Then left side no sound. Tweaked a little, right side no sound, tweaked a little, both side got some and also got echo. Yup, that's right, the hearphone jack had a poor connection.
5) The touch pad was way sensitive on the right, i mean u just sneeze and it'll activate. So change the sensitivity right? Wrong, coz the left side needs to be pressed real hard just to work.
6) I jacked it into my PC again. This time, my PC hang. restarted.
7) So I decided to uninstall. Off course, I've gotta uninstall each program individually and reboot after each uninstall.
8) Reinstalled and this time it doesn't detect the player. It still doesn't.
9) The radio is hear is... static.. if I'm lucky, I get a good signal.
10) Pouch that comes with the Zen Micro started disintegrating after 2 weeks of use.
11) I respectfully put Zen Micro where in belongs, in my cupboard.

Second, Apple's mini iPod.
1) I jacked it in. It worked. End of story.

The apple is much easier to use. However it suffers from a poor battery life etc etc Creative has it's own set of QC problems, regarding the micro as well. However, i prefer the ipod as it feels more "refined".

the zen micro is a god dam ugly plasticky looking mp3 player. even the cheapest mp3 players from china can look better than it. it will be difficult for ipod to expect a good fight from zen.
