Iphone 5s is out in Singapore on 20th September

I don't mind to upgrade my ip5 to 5s, if the fingerprint scanner hv good review :)

Are you sure it's an "upgrade"

Meet the two newest members of Apple’s iPhone family: a much faster, fully 64-bit iPhone 5S, and the iPhone 5C, essentially a tweaked iPhone 5 available in multiple colors. Both phones will launch simultaneously on September 20. Apple revealed the phones during a press event at its corporate campus in Cupertino, California on Tuesday afternoon.
Apple claims the iPhone 5S is up to twice as fast for both CPU and graphics and says the new A7 processor housed within includes over a billion transistors — twice as many as the A6 processor in the iPhone 5, while retaining the same footprint (iOS 7 has apparently been updated to take advantage of the new 64-bit architecture, too). The iPhone 5S will be available in black, gold or silver colors.
The iPhone 5S also includes something Apple calls an M7 motion co-processor, which keeps tabs on the device’s accelerometer, gyroscope and compass. Apple says this will enable new types of health and fitness apps, such as a new Nike+ Move app that keeps track of how active you are.
As expected, the iPhone 5S will include a touch ID fingerprint sensor built into the Home button. It’ll scan fingerprints in any orientation as well as sub-dermal fingerprint layers, and Apple noted you can use it to unlock your phone without a PIN or make iTunes purchases without entering a password. Lest you worry that data’s being stored in the cloud, Apple confirmed it’s not backed up or stored on Apple’s servers, and that it’s encrypted and locked within the A7 chip — it’s not directly accessible by software.
Camera-wise, the iPhone 5S’s aperture is slightly larger than the iPhone 5′s, the f-number dropping from f/2.4 to f/2.2 (lower is better). It’ll also do auto image stabilization, allowing you to take multiple photos at once and combine the sharpest parts of each. You can now operate in Burst Mode (hold the shutter to snap up to 10 frames per second) or use a “SloMo” camera app that lets you shoot video at up to 120 frames per second at 720p.
To demonstrate the power of the iPhone 5S, Apple brought Epic Games (Infinity Blade) onstage to announce and then show off Infinity Blade 3 – apparently the conclusion of Epic’s mobile action-strategy trilogy — with up to eight worlds on tap.
While Apple didn’t delve into specifics about A7′s 64-bit architecture, the 64-bit shift typically allows computers to access more than 4GB of memory. That’s not something Apple needs today, but there’s a theory that Apple’s laying the groundwork for much more powerful iPhones and iPads. With the A7 chip, Apple is kicking off that transition now, so it won’t have to keep supporting a 32-bit operating system in a few years.
The iPhone 5S looks to be priced in line with prior models: $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB or $399 for 64GB — all with two-year cellular contracts.
The iPhone 5C, by comparison, includes Apple’s older (but still powerful) A6 processor, an 8-megapixel camera, polycarbonate casing without seams or cracks, a higher battery capacity than prior iPhones and availability in multiple colors, including white, blue, yellow, red and green. It includes a front-facing FaceTime HD camera capable of taking sharper pictures, and will sell for less than the iPhone 5 originally did: $99 (16GB) or $199 (32GB) with a two-year contract; Apple’s listing the unlocked pricing for the iPhone 5C on its website as $550 (16 GB) and $650 (32 GB). Colorized custom cases will sell for $29, and the cases have holes in the back, allowing you to create a two-tone look if you prefer.

Some says Apple died with Steve Jobs. They could be right.

Imagine all those features he brought in to Apple products.

MP3 players, for example. How he beat others? Not shiny iPod, but iTunes shop... And the last feature is Siri. Although it could be frustrating if you pronounce the command in singlish style, but when you got your pronunciation right, what it does is amazing.

Now they just add a finger print scanner which has been around on laptops for years..... Steve Jobs added cool features that are least expected to be found on Apple devices.

It's all very debateable.

Some could easily point out that perhaps Steve had it easy, since he was coming in fresh.. Like it or not, the iPhone was a damn fine job of marketing (primarily) and features (secondarily). Yes, maybe it didn't do everything the first time, but the implementation for most features was decent enough for them to be welcomed. No use having a feature if it's hard or difficult to use or understand.

With that in mind, making incremental improvements to a good product is going to be increasingly difficult. I would be worried about the fingerprint scanner holding up with time though. But then again, my old old Lenevo laptop's fingerprint scanner is still working, so it probably won't be too bad. As usual, it's probably best to wait until all the early adopters discover all the kinks for Apple to iron out. :bsmilie:

The pricing for the 5C is really silly.
Not here, not there..
Those chaps at Apple marketing have really dropped the ball...

Sell it to the mass market (read China / India) and price it right and it will move many million handsets in a year.

IMO, the phone to wait for, is the one with the specs of the 5s with a slightly bigger screen and bigger battery.

I actually welcome the fingerprint scanner - I'm too lazy to tap in a passcode all day long so my phone has never been locked in anyway. I'm sure the scanner is not state of the art as far as security is concerned, but good enough for lazy guys like me.

the 5C just means that Apple's business model has not changed. Apple has not competed in the low end of the market for years (if ever), simply because margins and profits are more important than simply gaining market share for the sake of it. For the past iterations of the iPhone, Apple has simply sold the older gen product at a lower price or given it away for free (with a telco contract in the US at least). The 5C is just another version of this - a cheaper phone recycling an old product - iPhone 5.

Whether Apple should even try to compete with low cost producers in China is another conversation all together - but the 5C proves that Apple is not playing that game.

Apple got a comment from Nokia.

https://twitter.com/nokia_uk/status/377483408043036672

Apple sued Samsung and demanded US$1 Billion
• icons got rounded corners
• rows of icons in the phone interface
• pinch to zoom

Can Nokia sue Apple for a large sum for copying multi colour?

Yes, cheaper than 5S :bsmilie:

Relatively Cheaper but not cheap lol.

Eg Porsche boxter relatively cheaper than 911 but it's not cheap

Slightly bigger screen? Why current phone not big enough?

Apple's selling point has always been its supposed premium. Do you expect a lower end BMW series to sell the price of a Picanto?

Nokia dominated the lower cost phones in emerging markets. As we have seen, that did not bring in much bread onto the table to save the ailing behemoth.
