Scientific name: Aythya fuligula
Smaller than a mallard, this duck dives underwater for food. It has a small crest (tuft) and distinctive yellow eyes. Black on the head and white on the sides, this duck breeds readily in England and Scotland but less in Wales. Females have brownish sides with a black tipped gray bill.
