i done one indian wedding as a backup photographer a few weeks back.
there is mainly 2 types of wedding. the northern and southern indian wedding.
the most important moment is when the bride and bridegroom exchanges "thali" (not sure if correct spelling).
usually it begins like this (from my memory which i checked with an indian colleague):
- the bridegroom will arrive at the temple first. then proceed to do some prayers then he will be given some clothing to go to a special room and change while waiting for the bride to come
- the bride arrives and do some prayer and is given some clothing to change in another room. At this point both dun meet yet
- the bridegroom will come out now and wait for the bride to come out also then they will do prayers and be blessed by the priest
- the bride and bridegroom will now then exchange "thali" then all the guest will come on the stage to give their blessings to the couple
the above is summarised version from what i remembered
feel free to ask any of your indian friends, they should be able to help you understand better.
but some indian weddings may do some shortcuts and skip some process. so you need to check with the couple for the exact details.
