Hi guys,
Realized that I haven't really played with this lens so decided to take a few happy snaps with it to see if it's as good as it was rated to be by Popular Photography. This was shot out of my balcony as the sun was setting.
ISO 200, 1/500 sec, f/3.5. Voigtlander Heliar 50mm f/3.5 LTM on Epson R-D1s.
ISO 200, 1/125 sec, f/8.0. Voigtlander Heliar 50mm f/3.5 LTM on Epson R-D1s.
Unadjusted and unsharpened JPEG images straight out of the camera on standard setting.
Overall, I don't think it's exceptionally sharp, but it's certainly better than the Leica Elmar 5cm f/3.5. Then again, we are comparing a vintage lens with a modern one. At f/8.0 exposure is even across and the mild vignetting visible at f/3.5 is totally gone.
If I have the time, I will try to do a direct Elmar and Heliar comparison.
Cheers,
