I have worked/lived in Bangalore for 3+ years.
I don't think you need to watch out for anything much.

The hotel link you have mentioned is prolly not in Bangalore. In fact its prolly nearer to Mysore. So if you have not arranged for transport, I think you better find out with the organisers how you are going to reach the hotel, as i suspect the taxi fare from airport may be expensive.

Other than that while I dont have any problems withe the water , you I guess should better stay with bottled water which are found almost everwhere. Aquafina and Kinley are the brands from Pepsi and coke think.

Other than that I think the usual about over eager shopkeepers, auto drivers etc but that should be handleable.

If you are near Mysore and have time can visit the Mysore Palace.

Added later: Just remembered do give enough time for yourself in Bangalore like say when going to airport to catch a flight. Traffic jams can sometimes take really long to clear. so keep adequare buffer.

Thanks for sharing the details with me. The trip has been canceled as the transportation and logistics are not able to be arranged in time. These info would be helpful for my future trips. :)
