Hello fellow clubsnappers,
Some of you may have already heard about the light displays at Marina Bay that were set up on the 15th. Wanted to try hosting an outing to photograph some cool night shots...namely : night portraits, long exposures, and abstract light art.
Those who have a 50mm prime lens can also test out some nifty bokeh shots. I had already posted a tutorial regarding custom bokeh effects in the General Discussion section. You can check it here : http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=781245
Preferable Equipment.
1. A tripod. Absolutely essential. You will be shooting at night. There will be many instances where you want to take long exposures.
2. A 50mm prime lens, mostly for those who want to try out bokeh effects. The 50mm is excellent for sharp bokehs.
3. A wide angle lens, for those 2-3 snapshots covering a larger area. You can always skip this one and take multiple pictures using a normal lens and stitch it up to make a panorama.
4. A telephoto zoom lens, because it will cover a larger area and I'm not sure how close you can get to all the exhibits.
5. Wireless flash, unnecessary except for those who want to try portrait photography outside. Don't forget a diffuser.
6. Wireless shutter release, if you have one, bring it..will help in the long exposures.
Reminders
1. Charge your batteries.
2. Make sure you have enough free space in your memory card.
3. Carry a bottle of water with you. Its easier than running around for one and missing that 'split second snapshot' moment.
4. Travel light. Do not bring unnecessary equipment. There will be quite a large crowd since the outing is on a weekend.
Date: 23rd October, 2010. Saturday
Time : 6:30pm - 11:00pm
Venue: Marina Bay

Those coming to this outing, I suggest you keep the competition in mind and take classic photos. What's the harm in submitting...you might win something
