...anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

So if u have the chance to go Harvard, Yale of Oxford... u would prefer NUS cos it's your homeland? Very patriotic :)

As for me, I would choose Brooks Institute of Photography at Santa Barbara, CA.

Much had been said about Brooks, Rochester, RMIT and others.

There is one form of study that is little mentioned now.

Understudy and apprenticeship.

I would not go to any of these institutions. I am not interested in "reputations" of institutes. I am only interested in teachers/role models.

Instead I would "carry the camera bags" for a photographer whose vision and works I greatly admire.

Then on the shoulders of this photographer, I hope to see further.

Sorry, I don't know why I posted it in here, it was supposed to be under General Topics...:dunno:

they have TAFE courses in aus leading to dip and advanced dip...in applied science-photography..

China. Lots of great courses on photography there and countless famous photographers plus its cheap.:)

Art Centre College of Design, Pasadena, California

In my opinion, on of the best schools in the US. Not too sure about other parts of the world.

Royal Colleges of Arts, UK.

If you can made it back. Students will carry your bag.

New York City

If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere

my chance slipped away many many years ago

On the 23rd Street you will find The School of Visual Arts.
They will bring you around the school after making an appointment
with them so you can see the facilities. You can go for the under
graduate photography program.

Nicholas68, if you are seriously thinking of studying photography you can make
a trip to Sata Barbara, CA where you will find one of the world's
leader in visual arts education. You will not regret being a Brooks
graduate. :)

you don't need a degree to take great pictures

its a benefit, but it isn't everything, nor is it a prerequisite

i say this, considering i've dropped out of such a path before... =)

Considering a career path for fighters with a comfortable position
as Chief Photo Editor in a major newsapaper or magazine when
you are reaching your late 40s, the piece of paper qualification
will help you to that goal.

The fighting in the battle field of professional photography can
start as soon as you are ready to shoot everyday, knocking on
doors of ad agency art directors, newspapers etc including
holding your one man photo exhibition to tell the world who
you are and that you are alive.

Without that degree, most probably you will be fightling fit
even when you are at the age of 70 shooting for the few
important clients that you have. On the other hand, if you are
capable in business practice, you will be running a studio or two
with employees to shoot for you. Which ever path you choose
need careful planning and guidance from experts who had gone
through this fairytale tunnel of visionary ectasy. Warmest regards
to all those aspiring students of photography. ;)
