If you are getting anything online from USA, better do it soon.

Thanks for the heads up. I wonder if this is similar to EU where the sales tax only applies if the buyer is residing in EU. For buyers outside of US, it is like the airport, where you can claim back tax.

If final price is still alot cheaper than in SG.... why not ??

Just to highlight, UK automatically applies VAT on all Internet sales, but if the delivery is outside of UK, the VAT is also removed.

If the policy on this is similar, then this would not have any effect on Singaporean consumers.

The law only applies to 45 states.

So that means that 5 states are exempt from this so Oregon should be out as there is no sales tax in that state.

Correct. It's just to enforce sales tax being applied in states that have sales tax... it does not add additional taxation, only closes a loophole.

At the end, it would encourage people to buy things local (local city/town) as if you were to buy things online, it would be sales tax plus shipping cost.

You still have to pay the sales tax before it is shipped to the 5 states not covered, isn't it?

If the state you are shipping to does not have sales tax, then shouldn't need to pay when the bill is tallied.

Some genius in US will figure out a way to side step the tax legally.
