I had put a 300gHD as a slave disk in my desktop.

the problem:

In Windows XP it read on 170g instead of 300g.
I did a low level formatting but it still reads 170g.

However in Linux, the system get the correct reading i.e. 300g

Help:

How to get Windows to read 300g instead of 170g?

Thank you

Hm....weird.....ur linux is from the same box? Maybe see if there is new bios update for your motherboard......experienced some old system could not detect large harddisk.....but usually in Terabyte...not half half like urs :(

has it been partitioned ?

Thank for the note.

1. I did not do any partitioning. I did a low level formating and thnking that it should do the job.
2. U are right. It is a old machine. It leaves me an impression that Linux/Ubuntu is better that XP.

You can only partition 128GB from Widows XP install disk.
To partition larger, you need at least Windows XP Service Pack 1 install disk.
