Hi peeps, i just bought the DSLR canon Eos 1000D

i have couple of questions and was wondering if i need

1) a dry box.

if so, where can i get them, at a reasonable price.

beside dry box, what are others type of similar products to use?

2) should i get a Lens filter.

what type of lens filter should i get, and where?
price?

i know about UV, B+W ,... and what the difference about them.

3) do you all know about a filter, that will cause the picture to turn out, black and white and with a certain color is left behind.

example, i took a picture, the picture having in B+W forms and only red colors are in the picture, while the whole picture is black and white.

4) beside this stuff, any other accessories should i get for a newbie like me?

most importantly is where to get the stuffs and how much.:)

thanks for all your help peeps!

1. Yes. u need one. u can get them at most camera stores.

2. a filter serve many purposes. a most basic one such as a UV filter protect the front element of the lens. popular brand includes B+W, Kenko, Hoya...

3. This can be achieve through post processing. not filter.

4. Shoot more and u will understand what u need. common items inc. cleaning kit, camera bag, tripod, flash and the list go on forever.

Lastly read more & shoot more. :D

As for the how much part, we have the ClubSnap's very own secret price guide sub-forum to check out!

You can get a dry box or dry cabinet. Just go a search on the forums with related terms such as "dry cabinet" or "dry box" and you will find alot of info and discussion on these.

A dry cab for sure. The rest depends what you shoot.

1. A decent camera bag. (Lowepro)
2. A sturdy tripod. (Manfrotto)
3. A good external flash. (430EX)
4. Good quality glass.(FAST)

To me, these are necessities.

Welcome to Clubsnap!

I'm confused though by your post.
You said "I know about...." and then you list a filter TYPE, followed by a punctuation mark, then a filter BRAND.
So... do you or do you not know about filters?

1) get those cheapo neh neh air tight box from DAISO $2
buy some silicon gel wrap in tissue throw inside $2 + $0.02 (tissue)

2) AKARUI UV $8
can get from any shop (eg. Cathay)

3) use photoshop lasso object, copy layer, refine edge, background BW
photoshop CS4 download free

4) as listed above
all the things are cheap cheap good good last long long
and for basic entry usage
i personally feel, no need to get so many things until you exploited your camera/lens
and developed your own style
then u'll know wat u need
then u post here again
and many experts here will tell u wat to get
to achieve your desired results

bottom line is - have fun, enjoy yourself
