If you think N73 lag, please try k800i. I got mine 2 months back. N73 last year.

i agree on the slow startup but i think i've only off it like 3 times every since i've gotten it.
no lag at all, and i absolutely love the xenon flash
i like my k800i very much but it's bulky.

Jeanie, try nokia 6300. It is a series 40 phone, i.e. not smartphone, so is lag free and won't hang. Also has excellent screen of 16 million colours, is slim and is very reasonably costed.
