I recently saw this Hoya "1B" filter. Not too sure what it is for and the lense looks a little tinged with pink.

I'm just curious what it's for...

Kindly enlighten?

Cheers! :)

Are you referring to the Hoya Skylight 1B?

The Skylight 1B absorbs both UV and part of the blue/green spectrum such that it makes colours slightly warmer.

Some 602 users have reported that it helps in elminating any chance of greencast in your outdoor shots. I personally have one on mine and I've not seen any instance of greenish cast occuring.

I have one myself, tho I'm not quite sure what it is. :D

Hi Zerstorer.

Thanks for explaining. However, i'm curious to find out if this Skylight 1B is the same as the "Excel 1B"?

Cheers! :)

Nope. Mine is a Hoya SHMC Skylight 1B.

Also curious about the Excel 1B that both of you seem to have...:dunno:

It's not even listed on Hoya's webpage:
