How to watermark??!!

Anybody could recommend any photo editing freebie software that is SAFE and SPYWARE-FREE to download so I could use it to watermark my photos and do editing and stuff?
Currently I only have the Microsoft photo editor thingey which really doesn't help much. Recommendations would be much appreciated!

If you want something like photoshop and free then use GIMP free also.

hi, thanks, it's a pretty useful site.. ive just downloaded the program... but it doesn't seem to have any feature to watermark photos or anything near the sort. the kind of water mark i want to achieve is the partially invisible kind which is sort of like this...

so which program do you think will be best to achieve this that i can dl?

Yes, spyware free.

You should be able to get the type of watermark you want GIMP.

well u can change the opacity in photoshop, so it will look semi-transparent
