quick newbie question. do you use CPL over UV, or the other way round, or just CPL?

any side effects of using CPL over UV? coz the UV is more for protecting the lense and find it quite troublesome to remove the UV to attach the CPL

you can stack both the filters but you'll get internal flare, and degrading of IQ. if you really die die must do it, then cpl should be the outer most filter.

stacking filters will cause vignetting on wide angle, you will see four corners of the images black out.

of course UV filters will filter away some light, especially UV light, or else you will not able to see the glass at all, but you need not to compensate for any light loss.

there's no fixed position for the CPL. The white marker is an indication for you to know how far you've rotated the filter, so you know if you've turned the filter 1 complete round and still can't get the effect you want, no point to turn further ;)
