How to take night street photography w/o a tripod?

Hi. Was wondering how to take night street photography w/o a tripod?

Increase your ISO, select your lenses biggest aperture, use proper handholding techniques, use pillars/walls/tables/chair/any solid stationary objects as supports to reduce handshake, proper breathing and don't snap at the shutter button. These are some of the ways to reduce handshaking. Main thing is to keep your shutter speed as high as you can, or reduce vibration as much as you can.

Buy a D3, get a Noct lens, you are good to go.

look for areas like lamppost, wall or parapet where you can lean on or rest your camera... or bring a friend and use his/her shoulder to rest camera/lens... just ask him/her to hold steady when ready to shoot...

Tuck in ur elbows real tight into ur body, breath in deeply, click, hold breath/ breath out slowly. But so far, this has only worked until 1.6secs for me =( Any longer and it will come out blur...

Bump the ISO up...

Open up the aperture and hope for the best...

Use flash if subject is near. Else use a stable platform to help.

Monopod is not really meant for night street photography, u are better off with a tripod. If u just want handheld, then try to use a dustbin, concrete wall railing, top of the car, etc, to support yr camera,

and in addition, consider wide angle, and most importantly to realise the nature of subject with its limitations e.g. frame intensity and subject's speed of motion.

theoretically yes. some have little legs from that one leg, but they are all single axis.
