How to take Macro Shots?

hi all,
I am wondering what are the factos that will make a nice not-out-of-focus marco shots.

Must I get a very good camera in order to do that?

What is the ideal distance between object and camera? Or a camera's capability will decide upon that?

I juz bought a dsc T3, but dun know how to take macro unless the lens is very very close to objects...=(

think that the T3 is a "magnifaction" option, and not really macro photography - thus the distance between the lens and the subject is very close (3cm-5cm).

to aviod the "out-of-focus problem", hard to use a small tripod, but try to keep your cam at a steady distance from the subject. (i usually try to use my figures to hold the distance from hard / solid surfaces, but the wind can be a problem if you're taking leaves or insects).

but it is a very neat option on the very slick and sexy (esp the black) T3!! :thumbsup:

Nah, any cam can make nice macro shots i guess..

Use a tripod, must.
Use F/16 or more for good D.O.F.
Use a flash with omni bound if the subject come out dark...

Wow! thanks alot people! Looks like I need alot more equipment for macro to work out nice...I was quite fascinated by the winning shot from the macro competition... so nice!
