How to take Band photos

hey fellow nikonians... anyone have experience taking band photos? is there any tips that u guys can give me.. still a very new newbie... im currently using d70s with a Nikkor aF 24-120 lens(not vr)... pls really teach me HOW to take nice band pics... ahha.. thanks.
 

firstly, you need to know your equipments well and understand the basics first.
once that is done, then you can work on a specific genre of photography.

in the mean time look at lots and lots of images made by others and ask yourself
why you like it or don't like it.
 

November issue of Pratical Photography have a few pages talking about how to take band / musics photos (while performing). Mayb u can go to Kino and take a glance (for free of coz).
Although not a lot, but i find it quite useful.

I think important is how to capture motion, emotion and ambient light.
 

First, learn how to use your camera to it's fullest, aka, settings.

Second, learn existing-light, high iso photography.

Next, learn how to shoot in mixed-lighting conditions (it will affect your colour pictures), fill-in, slow-sync, 1st curtain and 2nd curtain photography with fill-in techniques.

Once you've grasped the principles, practise as much as possible.
