Hi!

I have got a question on how to set a white balance?
I am using nikon d300.

Is there any products that i could use to calibrate on?
i did try custom wb but cant get it exactly right.
colours are slight off.

Just wondering if anyone could help me with it?

Thank you.

Yes it is, and cheap china versions too. Just search the forum for expodisc, there's also the mass sales section.

Expodisc is slightly more accurate but a lot more expensive.

just look in mass sales. Many sellers carry it. But you probably cannot get it at $7.

has anyone used a digital gray card?

WB is crucial usually for product shoots.
I prefer to use the grey card. Place it at a corner of the composed photos. Later in PS or LR, just use the picker to correctly adjust the WB.

For outdoor portraiture, I rather use my eyes and watch the skin tones.
WB adjustment can be used creatively.

how does one set white balance in poor light ?
I've using grey card in dim light, using the camera custom white balance function. However, the camera says there is insufficient light. Can't seem to get around this.

At such situration, just pump up your ISO all the way for doing custom WB.

Hope this help.
ok thanks for the tip. I've an Olympus DSLR and you know what that means when the ISO is pumped all the way....maybe it's time to save up for a second system.
