How to removing Spyware icons on Desktop?

Some spyware icons appear on my desktop and I try to remove them like I always did last time, by right clicking on them and remove. But this time, they cannot be right click or drag to the recycle bin.

I tried scanning and removing from adaware and spybot, to no avail.

Anyone knows how to remove them?

What spyware is that? Name? I believe if you google the name, the solutions will be there waiting for you to use them.

It's just icons with names like "casino online", "website hosting", "card games", "poker", "bingo", etc. They appear on the desktops, but when I look for them in the desktop folders, they are not there. That sorta mean they can't be right click and deleted. Though you can definitely left click on them and it will pop up the link.

My gf brother PC also got all these icon

tried ad-aware, spybot and even manually searched the hard disk to delete all the dll & services running in background...but I think there is a backdoor somewhere that these spyware still keep coming back.

Went to windows update to have everything patched also cannot help, somemore the PC was behind firewall all the while.

Anyway, i am going to remove the whole windows and install Linux instead, may be you should also give up windows and change to Linux or Mac

that is a real advise, i'm trashing PC soon, when Mac comes with the Tiger OS, its bye bye PC altogether for my desktop slutions. Although Mac is not 100% won my heart yet but PC problems seem to wave to hits us with increasing volley.

its a pain going to tackle all the pop ups on a daily basis, afraid the next email attachment will sicken your PC with yet another virus attack etc......

I already give up on MSIE and stick to firefox for both PC and Mac liao

my MSIE will kenna spyware in minutes, again, no matter how I scan and patch also cannot help. Now I am using firefox, but once in a while still got virus manage to sneak in (again, must be some backdoor planted by the spyware that I kenna last time)

Its irritating. Had a spyware on my browser too, which i got from... (believe it or not)SHOCKWAVE official site (confirmed, I tried it 2 times). It auto defaults u to the russian porn site, then on every 2nd-5th click of ur IE browser, it will bring you to another russian porn, then opens up like 6 others!! Annoying as hell. You can't surf at all.
Changed to firefox, not bad but slow. Then I decided to search the offending file in my comp, delete it. Its encrypted too, non readable! And it comes back again, then I deleted it from my registry, then the files, from TEMP, system, all users, startup whatever finally gone. Anti-spyware can't even detect it.
I think the reason Microsoft never have an anti pop-up spyware is for commercial reasons.

I used to have spywares too until I installed this Spyware Blaster and now I have complete peace of mind. Once a while I scan my hard disk with ad-aware to make sure that the Spyware Blaster is working and, presto, no spyware have so far managed to enter the system since I installed this software. I had these icons on my desktop too. I searched for the spyware in the C:/program files/common files folder and C:/windows/application data folder. There are folders called something like teamheartway, mediaheck. Delete them.

Then press CTR-ALT-DEL to open the Close Program window. Close all programs except Explorer. Delete the files in the recycling bin. Restart the computer and the icons should be gone.

if you are running XP, turn off the restore function, and try to remove it while in Safe Mode.

let me guess, you just installled MSN Plus?

if so, you must have installed the sponsor version, the version that comes with ads.

just uninstall MSN Plus (only that addon will be uninstalled) and then install MSN Plus again. this time, be careful to read the step by step instructions carefully. the prompt for whether u want the sponsor version looks like the normal acceptance of T&Cs option.

a. when i start up, a big ad is splashed on my wall paper
b. the home page points to a cool search homepage

well..sometimes just deleting the files and folders of spyware doesn't really help? because you will still need to get rid of the registry entries (especially those in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT etc)
and alot of times the spyware used some dlls and processes which in turn protects them from being "deleted" away
the best way will probably be running a hijack this log and then look at them and decide what is malicious and then check the guids on the web to see if they are adware/spyware and then delete those entries in registries.
