My former "Mechanics of Solids" lecturer pronounced it as "More-re-ay". Eversince then, I followed his pronounciation.

Oxford dictionary: moiré /'mwa:reI/ a. (of silk) watered; like watered silk in appearance.

So it is pronounced as "mua-rei" (or "mua-ray"). ;)

From my daily usage at work...it s pronounced "Morray"..... even the ang mohs, the koreans and the chinease seem to agree on this pronunciation...

regards,
me

My family and associates always pronounce it as

more-ray (moi-raae) with a slightly extended ae sound at the end.

so i guess i won't get too wrong saying mua-ray....

thanks.....
