How to Meter Using Grad ND?

I just bought a HiTech Graduated ND 0.6 (2 stops), I'm not sure where to meter when using it. Anybody can help?

just meter without filter, use the same setting with the filter attech, if you meter with the filter on, the camera will compensate the filter factor, so you may not get the filter effect you want.

If you're using spot, then take the meter readings from the clear area. Alternatively, just meter from the darkened section and make the appropriate adjustments using exposure compensation. If you're using spot on the darkened section, set it at -2EV in your case.
