Hi all. how do I know if my lens's IS fails? Will an error showup on my camera? Or only the image will blured? Thanks.

At long exposures you won't hear the familiar buzz from the lens, and you can always test shots at various "tricky" focal lengths with and without IS.

yeah I guess the soft 'clicking'/'whirring' sounds from the lens are the tell-tale signals.
But this feature is usually not 'full-time' as well. If camera is idle for few seconds, I think the IS stops working (save power), so no sound may also not mean IS faulty :)
If you're familiar with the lens, should be able to tell the difference.

I see.. so there's no error report on the cam? Hmm.. then have to pay attention to it often. Thanks all! :)
