Hi,

I'll be travelling to Yunnan for 21 days and I'm thinking of bringing my dslr along. The temperature ranges from 2 to 15 degrees celcius. As we'll be staying in the village most of the time, what must I do/bring to make prevent damage/moisture from my dslr and lens? Do I have to bring a dry box or something?

Thanks!

every year around winter we get 10,000 of these threads. the mods should make a sticky from the period of oct to feb or something.

humidity is more of an issue than TEMPERATURE. check the humidity of the country you are going to.

low temperatures also not a problem. the only problem you might face is CONDENSATION, when you move from your warm warm hotel room to the outdoors. leave your bag open for a while, before whipping out the camera and removing the lenscap. this will help ease the transition and lessen chances of lens front element, lens rear element fogging up due to contact with cold air condensing on a warmer surface.

actually it is the other way around

you need to beware when moving from cold temp to warm temp
that is when condensation occurs

google it, lots of tips and recommendations on the internet

what dslr you are using? some are weather-sealed as claimed by the brands so nothing to worry about if their method testing is correct so doesnt really matter if move from cold to warm and vice versa. as for the lens, put on the lens you be using 99% of the time.

I myself using Canon 300D and so far have no issues in other country freezing weather. If an old camera like it has no problems, new cameras shouldnt be an issue.
